About
I am an independent researcher in early prehistory. I completed both my BSc in archaeology and MSc in Early Prehistory at the University of York.
My interests are broad but have recently focussed on the nature of emotions in ancient humans and other closely related hominins. I also research ancient personhood and relationships to objects within this context, and this was the theme of my MSc dissertation. I am a strong proponent of breaking down the barriers between disciplines and my research integrates material from (primarily) anthropological, primatological, psychological and neurological sources.
I also enjoy studying geoarchaeology and my most recent project in this field was at the site of Star Carr in North Yorkshire.
My future aim is to continue my research at PhD level, exploring, broadly speaking, themes of human, animal and object inter-relationship through the vista of portable and non-portable human and animal representation, notably cave art, Venus figurines and animal figurines.
