About
http://www.florentina-taylor.co.uk/
My main research interest is identity as the sum total of the multiple selves we manifest privately and publicly in our day-to-day interactions. In particular, I am interested in the role that identity awareness can play in foreign language learning and teaching, and how students' identity perceptions relate to academic achievement.
I am also interested in identity approaches to motivation, perceived relevance, involvement avoidance and truancy.
CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECTS
- Perceived relevance of Modern Foreign Languages in English secondary schools
- Developmental perceptions of language and identity with overseas postgraduate students in the UK
- MA students’ perceived difficulties and solutions to completing dissertation research projects
- Cross-country comparisons of identity in foreign language learning and teaching
