Thesis Title: Warfare in Jean Froissart's Chroniques: Representation and Reality

Dr. Craig Taylor

About

I try to limit myself to 14th and 15th c. England and France, but I often wander into peripheral areas.

In the past I have studied martial culture (chivalry) and the relationship between ideals and reality but I have recently moved deeper into intellectual history.

I'm now working on intertextuality (explicit and passive borrowing of ideas to explain complicated ideas) and its relation to conceptualizing ideals (how things should be) and reality (how things are) in texts that deal with war, peace and society during the Hundred Years' War.
