About
Before joining the Department of Politics at York as a Lecturer in 1995, I was Junior Research Fellow in Sociology at Jesus College, Oxford from 1992-95. I became a Senior Lecturer in Politics at York in 2005 and from April to September 2007 I was Visiting Professor in Sociology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. In 2010 I was appointed Hallsworth Visiting Professor in Political Economy at the University of Manchester. My research interests include comparative European politics and government and urban theory - particularly in relation to issues of governmentality, political economy, space, culture and representation.
