Thesis Title: Evaluating Text-to-Speech (TTS) Synthesis for Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL).
About
Zöe obtained a first degree in French Language Technology BSc from the Centre for Computational Linguistics, UMIST in 2001 and a PhD in Informatics from the University of Manchester in 2006. As part of her undergraduate studies, Zöe worked as a research assistant in the Natural Language Processing Group at France Telecom R&D, Lannion, France (1999-2000). Since completing her doctoral studies which investigated the use of speech synthesis in Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL), Zöe has worked as a language specialist in the Speech Technology Group at Toshiba, Cambridge (2006-2007), as a research fellow in the Learning Sciences Research Institute at the University of Nottingham (2007-2009) investigating pronunciation training, and on an Oxford University Press funded Fellowship investigating the use of new technologies in English as a Foreign language (2009-2011). She is currently a Lecturer in Language Education at the University of York (2011-present).
